The Fujifilm X-H2 has landed in a build quite like that of its immediate 2022 forerunner the X-HS2 - however, it blows its sibling, not to mention all others of its series, out of the water with a new variant of the X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor upgraded from the old maximum of 26.1MP to 40MP.

The X-H2 is also very much the current flagship with the updated X-Processor 5 platform. Furthermore, it is the first of its series to graduate to the Fujifilm Pixel Shift Multi-Shot mode that allows it to create gigantic 160MP image files.

Then again, many users might find the ability to record up to 240 minutes of 8K/30fps footage enough in most cases. They can also do this potentially jitter-free with the X-H2's updated 7-stop IBIS technology, not to mention a blazing-fast 1/180,000-second shutter speed, although the latter is available in the electronic mode only.

The new mirrorless APS-C unit also features a 5.76m-dot OLED EVF; a flip-out 3-inch LCD touchscreen; either SDXC UHS-II or CFExpress type-B card support; 3.5mm TRRS I/O for mics, and an HDMI type-A port. There is also USB type-C for data and charging here.

The new Fujifilm X-H2 is now available through a range of vendors, Amazon included, for US$1,999.95 on its own; however, the OEM hints strongly at something like the new, extra-weather-proofed XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR lens it has just developed to complete its new potentially high-end APS-C experience.
